Works updates

The light rail construction process will involve several stages and work fronts. GoldLinQ will use a combination of communication methods - newspaper advertising, letter box drops and door knocking – including this website to ensure impacted residents, businesses and motorists can prepare, park and move within these key Gold Coast precincts during construction.

Surfers Paradise - Rescheduled nightworks on Commodore Drive - Updated 22 February 2013

Due to weather delays, works to install underground electricity services across Commodore Drive must continue next week. Works will take place for an additional three nights from Sunday 24 February, 6:30pm to 6:30am.

During construction, traffic access into and out of Commodore Drive, Paradise Waters will be maintained. Work will be undertaken under a stop-go traffic configuration to maintain traffic flow. To minimise the impact on residents and traffic, the road will be reopened to two-way traffic at the close of every shift.

    What to expect

    • Construction will involve relocating services below ground across Commodore Drive at the intersection from west to east.
    • Heavy machinery, such as excavation movements to facilitate construction activities.
    • Pedestrian access to Commodore Drive and around the site area will be maintained under traffic control.
    • Construction noise, dust and vibration at times. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.
    • During night works vehicles will use “quacker” (quieter) style reversing alarms to reduce noise.
    • Light towers will be placed to limit glare to nearby residences.
