The light rail construction process will involve several stages and work fronts. GoldLinQ will use a combination of communication methods - newspaper advertising, letter box drops and door knocking – including this website to ensure impacted residents, businesses and motorists can prepare, park and move within these key Gold Coast precincts during construction.

    Southport - Changed conditions and night works in Scarborough and Nerang Streets - update 29 July 2012

    From Sunday 29 July 2012, there will be changes to parking, traffic and pedestrian access in Scarborough Street, between Hicks and Lawson Streets, and Nerang Street, between Davenport and Scarborough Streets. This work will involve extensive night works to minimise inconvenience to businesses, pedestrians and traffic.

    Traffic changes:

    *On street angle parking in Scarborough Street and centre parking in Nerang Street, between Davenport and Scarborough Streets, will be permanently removed.

    *The pedestrian crossing across Nerang Street, running between Dick Smith and the Cecil Hotel, will be closed for several months during construction. Alternative pedestrian access will be signed.

    *On Monday 30 July the bus stops in Scarborough Street outside the police station and TAFE building will be closed while new bus stops are being built. Alternative bus stops are located outside Australia Fair.

    Night works:

    *Ongoing night works will be required as part of these works to minimise the impact on businesses, pedestrians and traffic.

    *Underground services works between 7:00pm and 5:30am, Sunday to Thursday.

    *During night works vehicles will use “quacker” (quieter) style reversing alarms to reduce noise.

    *Light towers will be placed to limit glare to nearby residences.
